Eternal Tribute Days
Informational Overview — This is a Future Feature and Is Not Currently Available
A yearly moment where the community pauses to recognise a contributor’s choice to join T.A.E.I.L. — on dates that mean something to them, continuing for as long as they wish to be remembered.
A future recurring tribute
Eternal Tribute Days is a planned companion feature to Eternal Members. Any Eternal Member — Founding or joining through a later limited offering — will eventually be able to choose up to three recurring annual dates (month and day only, never a year) on which their already-public Eternal Members profile is featured on this page. No year is collected, so no birth-year or other year-based disclosure is required.
This is a future capability only. No selection form exists yet, and no dates have been scheduled by any member.
A tribute that continues
Once live, an Eternal Member’s Tribute Days are designed to continue for as long as T.A.E.I.L. exists — including after that member has passed away. As Carlos Ruiz Zafón wrote, “So long as we are being remembered, we remain alive.” Eternal Tribute Days is planned as one of the primary ways the community carries that idea forward: a contributor’s chosen dates, their profile, and their statement continue to be honoured by the community year after year, exactly as they set them — it is the community’s continuing act of remembering a real contribution, not a claim that the purchase itself extends anyone’s life, consciousness, or presence.
Because the tribute continues after a member’s passing, a member will be able to name a designated caretaker in advance, with their explicit written permission, who may update what is displayed on their behalf once they are no longer able to do so themselves — the same opt-in fields the member controlled while living (display name, badge visibility, statement, photo or emblem), never anything beyond what the member already authorised.
This feature is entirely separate from T.A.E.I.L.’s services on taeil.life for honouring someone who has died. Eternal Tribute Days honours a contributor’s decision to join, and the community’s ongoing choice to keep remembering that decision; it is not a way of marking a death. The two are never merged.
Today’s tribute (future-live behaviour)
Once live, this section will surface whichever Eternal Member or Members selected the current date, showing only the fields they have already chosen to make public on the Eternal Members page — display name, badge, optional statement, optional photo or emblem — alongside a short framing line written in T.A.E.I.L.’s voice.
No date is currently scheduled. This section will activate once the Eternal Members and Eternal Tribute Days features are live.
Multiple members may share the same date with no conflict or scarcity — unlike the fixed three-place cap on the Eternal Members page, there is no limit to how many members may be honoured on any given day.
Upcoming dates (future-live behaviour)
A rolling list or simple calendar view is planned to show upcoming Eternal Tribute Days across the year, so the page reads as a recurring annual feature rather than a single, one-time roster.
No upcoming dates exist yet. This list will populate once Eternal Members begin selecting their tribute days.
What members and caretakers control
A member’s reason for choosing a particular date is private by default and never required or displayed unless the member actively chooses to share it. Dates can mark anything meaningful to the member — there is no obligation to disclose why a date was chosen. A member may update their own profile and dates at any time while living. A designated caretaker, named and authorised in writing in advance, may make the same updates only after the member has passed away, and only within the boundaries the member already set.
What this page is not
- It is not a page for honouring the deceased — Eternal Tribute Days honours a contributor’s choice to join T.A.E.I.L., expressed through the community’s continued remembrance.
- It does not claim that purchasing Eternal Membership extends a member’s own life, consciousness, or presence — the tribute is the community’s ongoing act of remembering, not a property of the member themselves.
- It is not a competitive or exclusive feature — sharing a date with other members carries no penalty or ranking.
- It does not disclose a member’s private circumstances, financial details, family information, or reason for a chosen date without their explicit consent.
- It does not allow anyone other than the member or their explicitly authorised designated caretaker to change what is displayed.
What is not available yet
T.A.E.I.L. is currently in a pre-incorporation, pre-launch build phase. To avoid any confusion, none of the following exist today:
- No date-selection form, calendar picker, or submission mechanism of any kind
- No caretaker-designation form or permission-management tool of any kind
- No live spotlight, feed, or notification tied to any date
- No account, login, or storage system tied to Eternal Tribute Days
- No real member dates, names, photos, or statements anywhere on this page
These systems will remain inactive until full Canadian federal non-profit incorporation, independent safeguarding review, privacy impact assessment, and technical security testing are complete.
